General Lightning Path FAQ

Well, if by religion you mean a system of concepts and ideas that purports to offer you the Truth, the whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth about God, spirit, consciousness, creation, purpose, and so on (the so called BIG QUESTIONS), and that you can (if you wish) choose as a guide to help you awaken to the full light and power of your glorious divinity, then ya this is a religion because it does purport to offer you the Truth about all things spiritual and it does offer you guidance on spiritual awakening and empowerment. On the Lightning Path you will find statements about the nature of God (and god), consciousness, creation, your nature, our purpose, and our location in the grand scheme of things–just like you would find in a religion.

However, if by religion you mean a system of concepts and ideas that purports to offer you the Truth, but then threatens you (with hell, damnation, and bad karma), if you don’t believe the Truth…

…and if by religion you mean you mean an institution that is exclusionary and elitist, only allowing “the worthy,” “the chosen,” “the righteous,” and the believers to be rewarded…

…and if by religion you mean a system of thought that accepts and justifies the horrible violence and injustice of this world, and that excuses great wealth in the midst of global child starvation…

…and if by religion you mean an institution that divides and separates us into good versus evil and then teaches punishment, death, damnation, war, and destruction for those defined as evil…

…and if by religion you mean a system of thoughts and ideas that discourages critical thought…

…and if by religion you mean a system of belief that uses guilt and shame to control your behaviour…

Then no, this is not a religion.

Well, if by mystery school you mean a place where you can go and learn all the esoteric spiritual “mysteries” of creation, then yes this is. Within the books and websites of the Lightning PathTM you will find answers to virtually every spiritual question that you might have, and explanations and definitions for virtually every spiritual concept you may have come across in your travels. When you open the gate and step into the hallways of this mystery school you will learn everything from the nature of God and consciousness, through to the mechanics of creation of the physical universe out of the vibratory consciousness of Spirit, through to the purpose of your existence, the nature of your physical vessel, and how to properly care for, nurture, and develop your physical vehicle (your body) in order that it may become a suitable vessel for the powerful spiritual entity that you are. The Lightning Path provides answers to all the big spiritual questions that you might have.

However, if by mystery school you mean some secretive, often gender exclusive (i.e. boys only) that only lets some people in…

…and if mystery school you mean some  extremely expensive organization that only provides information to people who are worthy (typically defined as people who can afford the fees)…

…and if by mystery school you mean an organization that couches information in complication, misdirection, and maze like conceptual structures to hide the exclusionary, elitist, and even abusive nature of their ideas…

…and if by mystery school you mean an organization that panders to your ego to try to keep your emotions dependent and your cheque book open…

…and if by mystery you mean some illegal organization that encourages back room deals, nepotism, public fraud,  malfeance in the name of The Great Work, and so on…

Then no, this is not a mystery school.

If your idea of authentic spiritual knowledge is secret Egyptian rituals, intonation in the caverns, complicated esoteric “truths,” and confusing and maze like structures, blood oaths to your brothers and profiteering through your lifetime, this is not the place for you. If however you are interested in grounded, straightforward, precise, logical, clear, and “appropriate for the modern world” explanations of spirituality, God, consciousness, the cosmos, and your place in it, explanations that lead you directly to your power and divinity, then be welcome and at be at home.

It depends on what you define as new age I suppose. Scholars generally see the new age movement as a very broad and eclectic set of spiritual beliefs and practice, and that is certainly true. The new age is broad and eclectic. If you do not believe me, go to a new age trade show and you’ll see everything from grotesque colonic cleansing routines, through crystal meditation and ancient Egyptian intonation practices, through wiccan, druidic, and even catholic and pagan performance. So, and in the sense that the term “new age” can encompass just about every non-denominational spiritual practice there is under the sun, you would be right to call this new age.

Personally however, I don’t really see any benefit to classifying what I do as new age. The Lightning Path is in a category all by itself.

To be perfectly honest, we do not call ourselves anything and would resist any and all attempts to pigeon hole us, box us in, or otherwise draw a boundary around who we are and what we do. In fact the name I chose to identify this spiritual system, The Lightning Path, is extremely difficult to use as a label. It sounds ridiculous to say that “I am a Lightning Pathist” or “I am a Lightning Pathian.” It just doesn’t role of the tongue.

Making it difficult to label was intentional. The problem is, as soon as you attach a label to someone (like “oh you are a Buddhist), you effectively control and limit that person. When you attach a label to someone they become easy to manage in your own brain, and easy to dismiss if you don’t like what they say (oh, I am not a Buddhist so I do not have to listen).  Labeling is all about control really, and since we don’t like that type of control, we don’t want to have a label attached to us.

And besides, the things I say on the Lightning Path, the concepts and ideas I write about in my books, apply to everyone no matter what particular label has been used to box you in and limit you. Christian, Buddhist, Atheist, Agnostic, Jew, Hindu, follower of Allah, deep down we are all the same. We all issue from the same source, we are all part of the same family of Spirit, we are all here working on the same thing,  and when we finally complete The Great Work we will all return to full consciousness and power together. So honestly, if we make any “I AM” statements at all we say it like the Mayan’s say it. We say In Lak’ech which literally means “I AM another you.”

General spiritual questions

Creation is consciousness and therefore creation is an idea (albeit a complex and and collectively generated idea) within the mindful hallways of consciousness.

The nature of creation can be summed up with the following equation, taken from volume two of my Book of Light.

Creation=>consciousness=>light=>energy=>matter

or if you prefer

God=>light=>energy=>matter

The nature of creation, its origin and purpose, its physical constitution, and rules of operation, are outlined in my multi-volume Book of Light.

s

If you were born on any other planet in the universe, or in any other universe in existence, I’d have to say that your purpose is to play and have fun. However, since you were born on this planet I have to say that your purpose is a bit different. Since you were born on this planet I’d have to say that you share the same purpose with everyone else on this planet which is to build a new and better playground so that we, and by “we” I mean all monadic intensifications, can have more fun.

You are here, in other words, to help complete The Great Work.

Now, if you were looking for some cockamamie nonsense about being born to learn, pay of karma, evolve, grow, redeem yourself, or whatever…

If you were looking for me to say that this world is some kind of school or prison…

…sorry to disappoint.

School and all that attends it (i.e. tests, competition, graduation, reward) is what the business leaders of the Industrial Revolution created to get the people working (and often dying) in the mines and factories of the Industrial Revolution.

Prison is what the politicians and lawmakers who serve the business leaders put you in when you absolutely refuse to follow along with their rules.

Redemption, evolution, karma, and all ideas like that are all part of a system of thought control and behaviour control that keeps you compliant and accepting.

Now break the chains that bind you, return to full consciousness, and help us complete The Great Work.

After all, it is what you came here to do.

Well…

…if by evil you mean some big bad ass with big horns and a big dick challenging “god the father” in some twisted battle for souls…

…if by evil you mean an intrinsic dark force that balances and intrinsic light force in some grand cosmic battle that ensures ongoing physical manifestation…

…if by evil you mean Satan…

…then no there is no such thing as evil.

Evil as defined by the priests, prophets, and pundits of this planet…

Evil as portrayed ad naseum in the Hollywood stories…

Evil as a “choice…”

Evil as a “thing…”

Evil as an “entity…”

…does not exist.

Of course, assholes exist.

People who hurt others for greed and profit exist…

People who spray food with toxic chemicals exist…

Corporate and government thieves who steal trillions for the poor to line the pockets of the already uber rich exist…

People who hurt babies…

People who beat the weak…

People who rape children…

These people exist, but they are not evil. They are simply damaged by the shit, abuse, and indoctrination that they have experienced as part of their socialization within The System. With a fundamental change in the economic and political realities of this planet, and with enough time and resources, these people (really people like you and I) can be healed and we can return to the loving embrace of consciousness and spirit. All that is required is a fundamental change in our priorities and the redirection of resources from death and destruction to life and creation.

When you die, when your physical unit can no longer function, and/or when your consciousness is no longer able (or willing) to maintain a connection, your consciousness leaves your body, your brain activity ceases, and your body’s cells (which can no longer maintain their coherence with the absence of consciousness) begin to fall apart.

After consciousness leaves your body, you are free to do and go wherever you want. Nobody stands in judgment of you, no “karmic law” or “panel of judges” determines your subsequent “placement,” and the “vibratory level you attained while in body” is absolutely irrelevant. When you die you can do whatever you want. You may, for example, immediately go stand in an “incarnation lineup” and await the opportunity to reincarnate in a body when one becomes available. Choosing to reincarnate you may reincarnate here, on another planet, or in another universe within the grand and glorious transuniverse. You may also take a break and remain without a physical body (i.e. in spirit) for as long as you desire and you may even offer to stay close and guide those who you have left behind.

It really just depends on what you want to do.

When you die, all possibilities are re-opened for you.

Questions about Michael Sharp

Are you a Christian? Are these Christian teachings?

Well, I was born a Christian. I went to a Christian cathedral, had a Christian family, spent time as an altar boy, and listened to the Sunday sermons. So ya, in that sense, I am. I’m pretty much that, and if you look you’ll see the heavy influence of Christianity in the metaphors I use in my writing.

[stextbox id="grey" caption="And Jesus Said"]John 10:34. Is it not written in your law, “I have said you are gods.”[/stextbox]

That being said I should not that I am not a “follower” of Christianity. While I believe that there is deep spiritual truth buried in the depth of Christian dogma, there is also much untruth and even outright lie. I believe this is the case with all current spiritual or religious pathways. All dogma, all old world spiritual teaching, all esoteric “revelation” is a combination of hidden spiritual truth, overt lie, and intentional deceptions. The whole thing is a ridiculously over complex conglomeration of truth, mistruth, lie, and misdirection.

Personally, I consider myself a bit of a sludge monkey. I dig around in the astral mud of our collective consciousness to find the gems of spiritual truth slopped on and hidden by the power brokers of this planet. When I find a gem, I wash it off, and present it in pure, clean, and unadulterated form. The goal is to reflect (in a modern, updated, and easy to understand form!) the capital “T” truths of our common spiritual heritage.

In the end you will find the Lightning Path very eclectic, but highly critical. I have no trouble telling you when I think a particular teaching, whether it is Christian, Buddhist, Taoist, or whatever, is a mucky pile of dodo. At the same time I also have no trouble pulling in the spiritual gems from all the religion doctrines of this world as I find them. Respect where respect is due, clean up and correction if necessary!

Are you a Buddhist? Are these Buddhist teachings?

Well, I was not born a Buddhist, but I have read extensively on all the major world religions, and I do borrow freely, so in a sense I am.If you look you will see the influence of Buddhism in some of the metaphors and ideas I use in my writing.

That being said I should not that I am not a “follower” of Buddha. Well, if by “channel” you mean to ask, “do I talk to dead people,” then ya I do. I wouldn’t call it “channeling” though. From my perspective, “channeling” is something that a naive spiritual neophyte does when either:

  1. they have an ego problem and have a need to look cool, or want to seem like they have special powers.
  2. they have a responsibility problem and don’t want to be held accountable. This way if they get their information wrong, if somebody is hurt by it, then they can blame it on the dead people. “Well it wasn’t me that said that.” Ya right.
  3. they simply aren’t at an intellectual or emotional level where they can understand the information and therefore have to provide verbatim transcripts
  4. they are lazy and don’t want to put in the work necessary to translate the information
  5. they draw the erroneous conclusion that dead people always and necessarily know more than live people. Call this the angel error if you want.*

What I do instead is connect to what I call The Fabric of Consciousness (see my Book of Light volume one for a definition). That is, I circumvent bodily restrictions on connecting with higher consciousness (restrictions that exist partly for survival purposes, and partly because they keep us spiritually impotent and easy to control) and connect with that part of us which is God and which provides the foundation and prime mobile of all creation (you’ll need to read my Book of Light to get what I’m saying here). Once connected, I then talk to whomever I want to about whatever I want (or need) to talk about. It’s a conversation just like the kind of conversation you might have around a dinner table, except nobody except me is eating.

Sound crazy?

To some it does. If you’re one of those materialists who believe that human existence is defined by the boundaries of your body, if you think consciousness is contained and caused by the quantum operations of the brain, if you think that all things emerge from some sort of foundational material reality, then ya it sounds crazy. Loopy even. I can just hear the scoffing skeptics patting themselves proudly on the back as they chuckle and raise a toast to the Lord High Richard Dawkins. But keep in mind that your materialist position is a minority position not shared by the majority of the people on this planet now, or in the past. The majority of people on this planet believe in things non-material so unless you want to sit there with self satisfied smugness and assume you know better than the six billion or so people alive now, and the billions that have come before, then really what can I say to you that you would listen to.

On the other hand, if you are not a materialist, if you don’t believe that existence is defined by the boundaries of the human body, if you think consciousness exists sui generis (i.e. in and of itself) and the body only provides a container, then talking with “dead people” (i.e. people without a container) doesn’t seem too strange at all. In fact, if you are on this side of the fence as I am (read my Book of Light: The Nature of God, the Structure of Consciousness, and the Universe Within You), then it’s the materialists who look maladjusted, misinformed, and just plain loopy. In fact, if you ask me, people who limit their existence to the confines of their physical body are a lot like boat captains who never get out of their boat because they don’t believe that anything else exists except their boat and the water that surrounds it. Silly-nillies, and badly misinformed.

In any case, I’d just like to close by saying that just because my research process includes consultation with certain dead people doesn’t mean the books that I write should be attributed to anybody but me. Mark Twain talked to a lot of people in his life but no matter how he may have been influenced by his conversations, when he put pen to paper, it was his words that he was writing.
