Daily Mantra: The "normal" you is not representative of the vast potential of Consciousness that lies unrealized and untapped within

Explorations

This page contains a list of Lightning Path explorations. Explorations are articles, annotations, audios, and films aimed to get you thinking about the content provided in the LP curriculum. The explorations can contain some additional commentary, useful for providing context and additional information, as well as significant quotes, etc.

Explorations are organized by LP level of difficulty. Beginner explorations assume you have read or are reading beginner level spiritual material, intermediate  level explorations assume you’ve read intermediate level LP materials, and advanced level explorations assume you are reading (or have read) advanced level materials. There’s a lot of information at each of the LP levels so be sure to take your time going through the various materials.

Some more advanced scholarly articles are included in the explorations. Where possible, summaries of the content are provided, just in case you find the articles dry, arid, and overly complex.

  • Klaatu: We’re Off You Know

Introducing the band Klaatu, a Canadian band from the 1970s with music and songs that are remarkably aligned and in tune. I'll be posting their songs as explorations, at appropriate levels, and the first song I'd like to post is the first song from their second album Hope. The song is entitled We're off you know and it perfectly captures the intent and feeling that I want to convey to you now, which is that moving forward is not about judgment, punishment, worthiness, testing, or anything of that dark ilk. It's just about opening your eyes, facing the warmth of the sun, and Joyfully climbing on board.

  • Understanding the stress response

Significant QuotesDr. Herbert Benson, director emeritus of the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, has devoted much of his career to learning how people can counter the stress response by using a combination of approaches that elicit the relaxation response. These include deep abdominal breathing, focus on a soothing word (such […]

  • Are Scientists Spiritual

There is an erroneous assumption, really more of an indoctrinated meme, that scientists are, by virtue of their higher intelligence and rationality, essentially atheist. The masses are told that scientists don't believe in God. Heck, scientists are told, in no uncertain terms, that they don't believe in God. If they do, and as I have learned, they are opened to ridicule and attack from what we might want to call "system gatekeepers." As it turns out however, the assumption is wrong. While most scientists wouldn't believe in what I call Church God, they do believe in something.

  • Toxic Socialization

Most traditional spirituality, be they Eastern or Western, have something to say about pain and suffering, and that something is usually that it is a part of life. Buddhists say don't be attached. Hindus say, part of your karma. Christian's say, it's God's way of testing you or making you stronger. None of this is true. As you learn on the LP, there's no such thing as Karma, God doesn't test and punish with suffering and violence, and non-attachment is no way to deal with the avoidable suffering caused by greedy, power grubbing human hands. You can believe that crap is you want, but be aware, as more and more science is showing, and as this article summarizes, suffering and violence doesn't make us stronger, it hurts us to the core, causing physical, emotional, psychological, and even spiritual trauma and disease. More to the point, violence and toxicity disconnect us from Consciousness, which is the exact opposite of what you want to do when following an authentic spiritual path. My advice to you is, don't buy the BS. If you want to follow an authentic spiritual path, quit justifying violence and abuse and see it for what it really is, an assault on our essential spiritual nature and attempt to shut our connections down and reduce us to the instincts of animal survival.

  • Dangerous Memories – Slavery, Mysticism, and Transformation

Since Marx first declared religion to be the opiate of the masses, institutions of religion and spirituality have often been resisted by scholars. The assumption of many seems to always be that religion is either a reactionary response to difficult realities or a mere illusion, delusion, or epiphenomenon of brain/social function. This paper looks at the “authentic core” of religious institutions, religious experience, and, using biographical examples from the literature, argues that far from being a reactionary holdout of our primitive past, religion and spirituality are, in fact, essentially revolutionary in content. It is suggested that, in the context of a growing global ecological, political, and economic crises, the revolutionary core of religion and spirituality has to be examined, recovered, and even embraced as part of any local or global strategy of transformation.

  • The Brain as Filter: On Removing the Stuffing from the Keyhole

This is a remarkable article. It is a strong statement that you can't simply reduce consciousness to the neural operations of the brain. It references quite a few key sources that will be interesting for any scholar or scientists willing to take shallow dive into the rabbit hole, so to speak. This is not a very good "how to," but it is useful to get you thinking in the right direction. After reading this article you'll be asking yourself, how to you go from "reducing" consciousness in the body to expanding it. That is of course what the Lightning Path is about. The Lightning Path is all about moving the physical unit forward into better/higher connections with the Consciousness of creation.

  • Pure consciousness events and mysticism

CommentaryIs there incontrovertible evidence that some people, mystics or otherwise, have undergone pure consciousness? There is an utter blank. There is not even the thought […]

  • Michael Jackson – All I Want to Say is They Don’t Really Care About Us

Most people are unaware of this, but towards the end of his life, Michael Jackson became increasingly political, calling out the PTB and inciting peaceful global revolution. In this song, Michael gathers "the people" (the poor, the incarcerated, the disenfranchised) under his wing and takes direct aim at the The System and PTB, actually goosing them at one point. This, and a few other songs and albums, show his increasing awareness of The System and the problems it brings.

  • Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why

This is a fascinating look at how often the "Word of God," as represented by the Christian Bible, has been interferred with.
